Zoe's Gotcha Day -- What an incredible day this has been. Due to jet lag, it started very early - we were awake regardless of what time the clock said it was. (Caleb had slept for 13 hours and was ready to go, go, go...) So we had some time to wait before our 10 a.m. appointment - we still wound up being 30 min. early. Penny Wu met us at the door and took us straight up to the toddler room, where Zoe was still getting dressed for the day. You could tell today was special - they took such amazing care with how she was dressed and fixing her hair. Seeing her in person for the first time was beyond description - kind of like that first moment they hand the baby to you and you think, "Hey, I know you" even though you've never seen them before. We went to the play room and sat on the floor and talked to her quietly for a few minutes. With the help of some animal crackers and a few words in Mandarin, she was on my lap in just a few minutes. We talked to her caregiver, asking questions about her, what she likes and so on. She was so nice - all of the staff at Cathwel were wonderful to us. We met Sr. Rosa and talked with her for a few minutes and got the paperwork we needed. It was a really quick visit - we were leaving Jonah House by 11 a.m. Since then, we've been a family of four. What we've learned so far -- Zoe EATS ! She has hardly stopped since we got her this morning. Zoe likes riding in her stroller but hates getting shoes. She thinks her "ba ba" is very funny (that would by daddy to you guys) and likes to know where her "guh guh" is at all times (that would be big brother). Tomorrow we have our appointment at AIT to get Zoe's visa and then we're planning to go to the zoo. So far, things are going really well, especially considering Zoe is shy by nature (according to the ladies at Jonah House). Right now she's sitting on the floor beside me as I type this stacking blocks - so I would have to say we're doing OK. To the grandmas, aunts, and everyone else who wants to know - she's a huggy thing! We'll write more later - but for now, on behalf of the FOUR members of the Morrow family to all our family and friends across the date line, have a little celebration there on Monday, April 17th in honor of Zoe's Gotcha Day!
