It has been an exciting and memorable week! We set out for New York to house hunt and to introduce Zoe to the Morrow side of the family. Zoe met her Gaga and Papa for the first time - the first family members on either side to have the pleasure of meeting our newest addition. It was love at first sight for all three of them. Smart child that she is, Zoe immediately learned to say "Papa" - we joked all week that she knew instinctively who would be her staunchest ally and the one most likely to spoil her rotten. As the first grandaughter after 5 grandsons, Zoe is garnering quite a bit of attention and more than her share of hugs and kisses. We spent the week
at the cottage on Seneca Lake and she thoroughly enjoyed herself -- we had so much fun that we forgot to get but a few pictures. Zoe also got to meet her Aunt Jennie and Uncle Dennis and cousins Jack and Luke. Jack, who is also 2, taught Zoe how to say "truck" and "No Way!" - the most important phrase for any 2 year old to know. Our househunt was a success and we found a beautiful home in Andy's new school district. We knew as soon as we walked in that this was a "forever" kind of house, the kind of place where we want our kids to grow up. As Andy stood in the foyer looking toward the staircase, he looked at me and said, "I can picture
Zoe coming down those steps in her prom dress." It's just that kind of house. We will be making the move in August, in time for both kids to get settled in before school starts in September. In other news, Zoe continues to adapt and adjust. Her English is slow in coming but she now understands everything we say to her. We're working on potty training but it suffers a bit from Zoe's stubborn nature. In every way Zoe is just blissfully and typically two and we continue to marvel at how quickly she became such an integral part of the family. It's as if somehow, in all of those months of waiting, she had already joined the family. So that by the time we actually met her she just slid right into place. And now it's already time to do the first post-placement report - it will be time for that prom dress before we know it.
