Today is our two week anniversary and it's amazing how it feels both like it's all happened so fast, and at the same time, like Zoe has been a part of the family far longer than 14 days. You'll be happy to know she is no longer afraid of the cats and dog -- as predicted, now she's the one doing the chasing and they're the ones doing the running. She especially loves to yell at the "uppy" - as loud as she can. I would feel sorry for the poor dog, except that Zoe now feeds him constantly. Anything she's eating, she shares with him. The dog has eaten better these last two weeks than at any other time in his life. Zoe is doing better with her eating, too. She's beginning to let me know what she loves (like grapes) and what she hates (like peas), instead of eating everything she's given. Whenever I tell her it's time to eat, she either jumps into her booster seat, where she sits and bangs her hands on the table until she gets to eat, or she follows me around yelling "Yeah!!" everytime I pull another food out of the cupboard or fridge. We introduced her to the swimming pool over the weekend. I can only imagine what it must look like to her! She has progressed to sitting on the side of the pool and kicking her feet hard enough to splash herself. Given how she's adapted to everything else, I bet she'll be jumping in by the end of the week. She's getting used to being part of a family, but you can tell that some things fascinate and confuse her. The simple routines of being in a house that you don't think about, like making dinner, eating, then doing dishes, washing and folding clothes, running errands, bedtime routines, etc. She's having to learn the rhythm of family life. Even so, she is definitely feeling like she has come home.
